It’s a new moon in Taurus, today at 15:53 here in the UK. It’s a great time to set new intentions and make a list of projects, goals or things you would like to achieve. For me, well, I have decided to come out of my comfort zone and share my pondering and artwork with you through this new medium. Over the last 3 years I have managed to tick a few things off my ‘TO DO’ list or as I like to think of it, my ‘TAH DAAAAHHH’ list. I have set up my own website, joined Instagram and produced some wonderful artwork. I have focused on my garden, walking in the countryside and along the Jurassic coast to reconnect with nature and the wildlife that surrounds me. In doing this I have come to feel more secure and grounded and in feeling this way I have been inspired to recommit to my art. I write a monthly blog which is posted on my website, but I wanted to share something extra, I guess an unedited, authentic version of the artist within. I am sure you will find some grammatical errors and some spelling mistakes but this newsletter is written from the heart. My aim is to spread the joy and hopefully inspire others to reconnect with the earth and rekindle your passion for nature, wildlife and the beauty that surrounds us in the every day.
I walk everyday with my Norfolk terrier, Audrey. She is a stoic, feisty and lovable dog and she motivates me to get outside into nature. As I wander along my mind wanders, a moment of contemplation, meditation and pondering.
The bright yellow dandelions have changed in to fairy clocks, to be replaced with tall wavy yellow buttercups that sway in the spring breeze. A sea of grasses, clover and cuckoo flower. The house martins darting to and fro. Cow parsley lining the verges, hedgerows and country pathways. Brushing my jeans as I walk on by, getting coated by seed heads and dusty pollen. Wild garlic in the woods with it’s lime green leaves and white delicate flowers. As Audrey passes through the scent rises up in the gentle breeze to give me a waft of its delicious aroma.
I can still hear the chiff chaffs calling from the trees and bushes. The woodpecker tapping away at a tree. Robins, wrens, blackbirds, a wonderful bird choir. The wood pigeon’s lower tones cooing in the distance but where is the cuckoo? A visitor I hear every spring but alas, no cuckoo so far this year.
This month I have found many springtime treasures, a woodpecker feather, black with white spots, both halves of an empty walnut shell and a tiny blue speckled egg shell, maybe from a robin. I love to bring these foraged treasures home with me and have quite the collection, only valuable to me.
Thank you for taking the time to read this post. If you want to find out more about the elusive cuckoo then please head over to my website. Have you heard a cuckoo this year? What exciting treasures have you found in the natural world this spring? Leave a comment and let me know.
Nice one Clare 🙏
Thank you Jill 💗
