Lovely post, Clare. What beautiful flowers (and your hedgehog is so cute!!!). I've heard that Cafe au Lait dahlias bloom really late. They're beautiful, but I've never tried them. I'm glad you got some flowers before the end of the season! Some things work in the garden and some things don't. Often it's out of our hands. Hope you have a lovely rest of the month!

Thank you Anne, I love the Cafe au Lait dahlias, big showy flower heads. I have one in a border which I just leave in the ground over winter and one in a terracotta pot that I store away. The one in the border surprisingly comes back every summer. The borders look great this year and still going strong as it’s still warm. Love seeing your garden in your videos. Hope you have a fab month too. 🧡🌻

I know you feel sad when we see the house martins and swallows leave but they’ll be back again and in the meantime we get to enjoy the changing of the seasons, good books and puzzles! 😂

Lovely article Clare. We have certainly be lucky to have a late burst of sunshine over the past week. My super trooper roses have responded well and look glorious! Shame I don’t have the skills to create a painted record of them. I will continue to watch you YouTube videos and TikTok clips for inspiration! 💜

Hello, Clare, and Thank you for this inspiration! I have collected a few findings on my nature walks to draw in the nature journal (acorns, leaves, seed pods), and I made a nice, dried flower arrangement. I love your idea for setting intentions and for the Autumn mood board. I am currently listening to an audiobook, The Path of Druidry, by Penny Billington, and I'm determined to finish it this season. :) I love your beautiful flower photos. I hope you are having a wonderful Autumn!

I love an audio book whilst pottering in the studio - thanks for the recommendation. The dried flower arrangement sounds like a nice idea too. Thank you for reading and commenting Cyndi. 🙏💜

Thank you Clare. Your current post very much conjures up the essence of Autumn and all it has to offer. We have squirrels in the garden burying nuts and lots of berries. I pressed some Autumn leaves last year and have yet to discover how they have turned out. I am very fond of Dylan Thomas's poem "Especially When The October wind" which is very descriptive of late Autumn approaching Winter ;

Nature and the Human Condition, as he experienced his life in Wales. The Harvest Festival is nearly upon us. A good opportunity to paint the forthcoming flower display in the church.

Thank you Angela. I will check out the poem by Dylan Thomas. I love pressing autumn leaves and quite often I will open an old book and find leaves that I have inserted in the pages and forgotten about. Sketching church flowers sounds like a tranquil thing to do…noted. 🧡🙏
